Discussion 3
Discussion Instructions
Instructions: Discussion 1 requires 1 initial post and 2 peer responses.
Introduction: This week we focused on tools for building our own programs. We discussed the “What, So What, Now What” and ADDIE methods for building strong programs. As mentioned in the video home grown programs are usually best because they are written from a community member for the community they serve.
Prompts: Your discussion prompt this week is about the importance of the “So What?” in your curricula. The Prompt is in two questions:
- What is the “So What?” important to include in our programs?
- How is it related to relevance?
Initial Post: Your post can be texts, video, or any type of media. Your original post should be no less than 2 paragraphs. Please respond to one of the prompts below and support your answer with your personal experience or sources (e.g., websites, research, books).
2 Peer Responses: Your peer responses should first go to those who do not already have a response on their post. Use the following to guide your peer responses:
- Address the ideas/concerns/feelings/perceptions mentioned
- Appy course experiences/materials in your response
- Introduce new ideas
- Ask clarifying questions to stimulate further discussion
Learning Goal:
Understand why addressing the “So What?” in your program is critical to relevance and motivation to learn for your audiences.
Supplemental learning videos from other voices and perspectives
